Sleep disorders are very common. Though amitriptyline can cause a person to be drowsy, it is not specifically for sleeping.
You can try sleep hygiene tips to see if they help. These tips are available online and include some of the following: (1)getting out bed if 20-30 pass and unable to sleep (2)do not exercise within 2 hours of bedtime (3)no reading or tv in bed These are some of the tips but the others are readily available.
In terms of the increased heart beat, you should consider an ECG and blood tests to check for anemia and thyroid function.
I hope this helps
