Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Sleeping Difficulty And Night Sweats When Suffering From Bilateral THA?
I am a 40yr old female. I had bilateral THA 13 years ago and revisions 3 years ago. Starting having pain, trouble sleeping, night sweats....earlier this year. My ortho ordered blood work, CRP & sed rate last week. Results were CRP 1.20 mg/dl (I believe that is 12 mg/l?) and sed rate 39. He said the CRP is a mild elevation and sed rate is moderate and we will take a wait and see approach. I am to have an MRI soon and if it shows fluid around the joint he may have it aspirated. Your thoughts?
Noted your history about bilateral THA 13 years ago have now pain trouble sleeping, night sweats, CRP and Sedimentation Rate raised a bit, MRI to be done and thus further management to be planned. It is difficult to have some complication like infection after so many years but it is possible and hence you have to follow the opinion of your Orthopedic Surgeon. IF WBC are raised or blood tests including culture and sensitivity are indicative of any infection it would be better to get started on a prescription based antibiotic, anti-inflammatory medication. Take rest and take plenty of oral fluids. Painkillers will help ease the symptoms.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
