What Causes Sleeplessness In Person Suffering With Thyroid Disorder?
it has been about 3 years of having problems waking up and being able to stay awake...my thyroid was removed right before all this started but my thyroid Dr. assures me that im on the right dosage of meds, its something else she says. Because my levels are right where they need to be.
Hi & Welcome to HCM. I appreciate your concern for the sleepiness while taking medication for thyroid problem.
Apparently you are being treated for Hypothyroidism with Levothyroxine tablets the dose of which seems to be inadequate.
If the dosage of the Levothyroxine is inadequate the signs and symptoms of Hypothyroidism like sleepiness, fatigue, weakness, constipation, cold intolerance, etc appear.
I advice you to consult your treating doctor to check the thyroid function tests particular TSH level which help in adjusting the correct dose of levothyroxine. TSH level should be in the range of 0.4 - 4 mIU/L while taking Levothyroxine.
TSH level should be evaluated at least 4 - 6 weeks after an adjustment in the Levothyroxine dosage.
