Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m 67 yrs old and still quite active. I lift weights and exercise 3 to 4 time weekly. I was told 18 years ago by three different orthopods that my shoulders would need to be replace within two years. Now, 16 years beyond their estimates I m still doing my routines with fairly heavy weights. I ve been controlling the pain until just recently with OTC nsaids. My doctor just recently prescribed meloxicam and it works pretty well. My question is that sometimes it is not enough to allow me to sleep. I ve been adding a fair amount of aspirin and ibu. to the mix. Is that OK?
No, it is not okay according to the history you have given here.
So I can say that you are doing pretty good. Try to stay away from the medicine particularly NSAIDs are concerned, you can just have one molecule of the analgesic but the combination of analgesics may be harmful.
You can try the hot milk for sleep and this may help you in pain too but stay away from the combination of the analgesics.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Akhtarhusain,
General & Family Physician
