Vaginal bleeding after sex is common and can happen when you're not menstruating or don't expect to be menstruating. Vaginal bleeding after sex occurs most often in younger. A woman’s cervix, the narrow, lower end of the uterus, is usually the source of bleeding brought on by vaginal sex. If the cells of cervix become inflamed or otherwise abnormal, sexual intercourse can cause enough friction to cause bleeding. Cervical polyps, noncancerous (benign) growths on your cervix. Friction during sexual intercourse, Cervicitis, Inadequate lubrication or foreplay, Injury to the uterine lining (endometrium) during intercourse, especially in women taking oral contraceptives, Sexually transmitted diseases or infections like gonorrhea and chlamydia can be a cause of vaginal bleeding after intercourse.Another possible cause for bleeding after vaginal sex may be pelvic inflammatory disease (PID).
