What Causes Slight Burning Sensation After Urinating?
I am 68 years old, I take allopurinol for gout and have ed. Last year, as a result of not taking the med. like I should I had blood in my urine. I had a sonogram, ct scan and a cystoscopy, all were negative. And since taking my medication as directed every day. That has not occured. Recently I have had some slight burning sensation after urinating and she did a complete work up.Blood test urine test which she said was perfect. When I asked her about the semen. She just looked at me like I was crazy. Thinking of seeing urologist again even though she didn t recommend it like last year.
Allopurinol is used in the treatment of gout, certain kidney stones, certain cancers by lowering levels of uric acid in the body. This medication should be taken in the dose and duration as directed by the prescribing doctor. Taken regularly, it can prevent attacks of gout. It may cause painful urination, burning sensation during micturition or after micturition, little or no urination, blood in the urine, skin rash, facial swelling, nausea or vomiting, headache, diarrhea and many more.
If someone notices any of these side effects during taking this medication, he or she should inform the prescribing doctor promptly for medical attention. Your doctor is the best judge to choose the best medication for you. So you should strictly follow your doctor's advice. But if you have any doubt, then you can consult your doctor for further evaluation.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Zubayer Alam, General And Family Physician
