Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Slurred Speech And Disorientation After Taking Calpol And Meftal?
My son 9 years and 11 months had high fever yesterday and instead of giving calpol and meftal in a gap of 4 hours as adviced he was given both syrups in a span of 15 minutes. This was around 2 pm and in the evening he was disoriented and speaking incoherently . does the medicines cause this side effects?
The symptoms you said do not appear to be related to the drugs even if given sooner then advised. I understand he should be urgently taken for assessment.
Irrelevant talks and confusions may be caused by the high-grade fever, but need assessment as sometimes it may be indicating brain infection or serious infection like sepsis or pneumonia.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Mahboob Ur Rahman , General & Family Physician
