My husband has been to the ER several times, had several different neurologist look at him and can t find out what is wrong with him. He is getting worse. He gets worse in the evenings. He has a lazy eye, slurred words, tremors (sometimes), seizures ( on medication for this), and has short term memory loss. He cannot hold down a job because of this. He blacks out and loses track of time. He is 54 and was healthy until this started 4 years ago.
I would like to know the tests performed by your husband. His symptoms are suggestive for a neuro-degenerative disorder. A myastenic syndrome can not be excluded either. Coming to this point, I would recommend performing some tests (if he has not performed them already): - a brain MRI study - complete blood count - Vitamin D, vitamin B12 and Vitamin B1 plasma levels - a repetitive nerve stimulation and a nerve conduction study - a spinal tap may be necessary. You should discuss with his doctor on the above tests.
Hope you will find this answer helpful! Best wishes, Dr. Aida
