What Causes Slurred Speech?

Was speaking gibberish right after being in a drive thru at a Burger King. Could it be carbon monoxide from the car in front of me? It started tight then for about 5 min. I was driving and had no problem driving. The gibberish stopped suddenly and I was fine. Went to play cards and was fine. It is evening now and no recurrence. During the gibberish I knew I was doing it and driving perfectly at the time. Thank you.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Yes, this is a matter of concern. Slurred speech indicated there is reduced blood supply to the brain. It might lead to a stroke in the coming days if not taken care of properly.

Your father needs to be put on a medication called antiplatelet drugs as these will reduce the risk of stroke in him.

He requires MRI Brain to check whether a minor stroke has already happened or not and also Carotid and vertebral artery Doppler scan.

Take him to a physician at least and get evaluated as advised above.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
