Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello I have a bump on my lip and sent my MD and she said it was from the chicken pox/shingles I have never had shingles and do not now. put me on antiviral. I have never been on antiviral and not sure that is correct. I do not have herpes or cold sores or fever bilster ever. she said not cancer but I want to make sure viral not bacterial.
It is possible that she may mean oral herpes. Oral herpes is most commonly caused by the herpes 1 virus and it is very prevalent in the population.
This means that a large number of persons are infected with this virus. It does not have to sexually transmitted,in most instances it is not sexually transmitted.
A bacterial infection would have a different appearance but if it does not resolve then you can see your doctor for additional treatment.
I hope this helps
