What Causes Small Cuts In Perineum And Vaginal Discharge?
Hi, I was wondering why I am experiencing small cuts in my perineum accompanied with vaginal discharge. Last time I check with a gynaecologist there was no yeast involved and she just said that some people have a heavier discharge, but now it seems like its acid to my vaginal area provoking cuts. Any advice?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Vaginal discharge can occur due to infection, inflammation or congestion. What is the color of discharge and is it associated with any odor? Yellow or green colored vaginal discharge wth an offensive odor is suggestive of infection. In such a case micro-biological examination of discharge by a vaginal swab will be required to identify the infectious agent. Appropriate anti-microbial can be started if infection is detected. The cuts in the perineum need to be examined. It is not common to have cuts in perineum in case of infection. Healing of the cuts is required since they can be a potential source of transmission of sexually transmitted disease. Thus, avoid sexual contact till the cuts are healed up.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
