What Causes Small Hard Lumps On The Neck And Headache In A Child?
My daughter has developed small hard lumps the size of almonds on the sides of her neck. She is complaining of headaches as well and the lumps are tender to touch. They are not near the throat, but rather on the widest part of the neck. We are taking her in to see a doctor, but could this be anything too serious to take her in to right away?
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM Small tender lumps on the side of the neck could most likely be lymph nodes(adenopathies). These are mostly seen in respiratory infections and other systemic infections indicating that immune cells in this area are fighting an infection. Most of these infections will manifest with a headache. I will suggest you take her to the Doctor for examination so as to better appreciate the lumps.Depending on the diagnostic orientation of the Doctor, work-ups will be requested to know the exact cause. I will suggest she takes an anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen if the pain is serious. Hope my answer will help you Best regards
