Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have small holes in the end of three toes. Earlier I had one and a black worm (very active) came out of it when I pricked it with a needle. What kind of worm was it , what caused it and what can be done to keep from getting others? I know some of the things that tropical ones can cause but I probably got these in the Western United States since my travels in Africa were in 1981--1983. Can I have acquired these long ago and they have been living in my kidneys and are just now trying to procreate because my kidneys are dying? Please give me a serious answer at YYYY@YYYY .
* As per my surgical experience, the presence of holes at the ends of toes indicate fungal infection or parasitic infection from tropical region as africa. Better recovery would be with
- anti worm theray as mebendazole or pyrental palmoate
- prophylactic anti fungal tablets as fluconazole or ketoconazole
- control of blood sugar
- taking hygienic care of local part
- sterile dressing with permethrin cream or lotion.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
