What Causes Small Lump, Mild Discoloration And Itching Sensation In Vulva?

I m finding some irregularities in my vulva, there s a small lump, there might be slight discoloration, Itching and irritation. Even as I wash below properly and a good amount of times, it emits a foul smell (not pungent ) it doesn t smell like fish but more like stool, and only leaves this scent on my hand after I scratch it. (The smell has been around for a very long time and the lump is very new, I found it tonight (1/2/16) Please help. I ve never been sexually active in anyway and I haven t shared beds with anyone new. The one person who does share a bed with me has also never been sexually active. I m very concerned, is there a diagnosis that can be placed here? Thank you for your time, I await your reply.

Hi,

Thanks for posting in HCM.

I have read your description and understand your concern.
What problem you could be having inside vagina be due to presence of 'Bartholin's cyst'. Since it is accompanied by certain amount of smell, it could be infected.

Kindly do the following to overcome it.
1. Clean the area with mild antiseptic solution like Povidine-iodine solution thrice daily.
2. Take anti-inflammatory analgesic medication like Ibuprofen after food.
3. Take a course of antibiotics containing Amoxacillin and Clavulenic acid.
4. Take warm Sitz bath twice daily.
5. Abstain from sexual activities till the lesions heal completely.

It should start to subside by doing above measures by 3 to 5 days.
In case the lump recurs or does not subside, you may have to undergo a procedure called 'marsupialization'. Kindly consult Gynaecologist in this regard for evaluation and management.
