What Causes Small Lumps Along With Severe Itching At The Opening Of Vagina?
I have recently (about a month or so) had a annoying itch on the lower part of my vagina opening. Today I was looking closer and notices a few small bumps. No liqiud filled just a little cluster. What could it be? I do shave but don t use cream or scented wash. It does get irritated when I habe sex. Feels raw all the time. Thanks
A few causes of severe itch and small bumps at vaginal opening are:
1) Contact dermatitis due to shaving gel or soap or any other agents of contact
2) Folliculitis that occurs due to inflammation of hair follicles due to shaving or waxing
3) Sebaceous cysts due to clogging of oil glands
4) Ingrown hairs
5) Papillomatosis or appearance of small papules along labia which is normal
6) Any sexually transmitted infections like herpes
Please do consult a gynecologist as you need to be examined in person clinically and only then the actual cause can be known. Appropriate treatment depends upon the cause of bumps.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
