Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Small Lumps In The Breast And Swelling On The Neck?
I have been taken Tekturna 150 mg and my doctor changed me to Spironolactone 50mg so I would not have to pay the high price for the Tekturna. I have been taken the Spironolactone for about 2 years and have not had any side effect, but hear in the past month or so I have been experiencing tender titys and knots behind my left breast also around the base of my neck it seems puffy and swelling. I have stopped taken the Spiron for two days and seems to be less tender. What should I do?
Spironolactone can cause gynecomastia in about 9%of the patients which are usually painful, and benign breast lumps rarely but these are reversible upon stopping the drug.
I would therefore suggest to stop taking spironolactone and switch it to other alternative like amiloride after consultation with your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr Muhammad Zahir Shah, Internal Medicine Specialist
