What Causes Small Painful Lumps All Over The Body?
Hello Doctor, About nine to tem weeks ago, I started to have very short sharp pains in almost all my muscles, I went to the clinic and the nurse advised me that I lack vitamins which I was not satisfied. This pains subsided and I developed swollen and painful ankles then I started having small painful lumps all over my body and after the pains stopped, these lumps turned red and then black. I took dichlofenac to help me with the pains. Thank you for your advise. GOD BLESS, Sonya
Your symptoms seem to e consistent with a condition called fibromyalgia. It is a condition which affects most muscles in the body. The exact cause is unknown, but factors such as genetics, stress, sleep disturbances, a sedentary lifestyle, obesity etc seem to predispose some individuals to having this condition.
There are no exact tests to determine this, but a workup including a blood checkup and creatinine kinase ,should help.
If diagnosed, the treatment will include a combination of a prescription painkiller, exercise and Cognitive Behaviour therapy.
You must also rule out Vitamin D deficiency.
Hope this helps!
