What Causes Small Red Patches On Legs Spreading Towards Arms?

I have developed small red patches about the size of a silver dollar on my legs, plus a bit of spread out small spots. They are scaly. I have had 2 for about a month and now a new small one starting on my upper arm. I have no discomfort and if left alone they do not itch. If I scratch them they become itchy. As long as I leave them alone and ignore them, I would never know they were there. Is it possible I have shingles? I am 66 years and am very healthy. My immune system seems strong as I never get colds or flue. I never take any medications or preventative booster shots.

Hello,

You have developed small red rashes on the legs that are also spreading towards the arms. They are scaly and cause itchiness on touching it. Your symptoms are indicative of allergy, psoriasis / contact dermatitis or ring worm infection of the skin. Take care of your hygiene, use herbal products for body lotions and creams. Avoid harsh soaps, detergents or beauty products containing chemical ingredients.

You can take antihistamine, at bed time for 3-5 days. You can take acetaminophen, one SOS when required to reduce inflammation, redness swelling/ soreness. Do not share your toiletries with anyone and wash your clothes frequently in hot water. Get clinically examined by a dermatologist if psoriasis is detected you will be treated with corticosteroids, retinoids or recommended Light therapy.

Treatment will depend on the cause, if ring worm infection of the skin is detected you will be given a course of oral fluconazole and applying clotrimazole on the area affected will help. Cold compression is helpful. do not touch, pop or scratch. Stay away from addictions if any.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
