Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a small red dot, its not a bump and it's not sore. The red dot is located on my upper gum. I just noticed it within the week and it's not bothering me. The dot looks dark brown when I look at it in the mirror but I took a picture and it appears to be red. The dot is about the size of a pen point. Let me know if you can help me figure out what this is, I can email a picture. Your help is appreciated. Thanks.

What Causes Small Red Spots On The Upper Gum?
Hi.. Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC.. I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns.. As per your complain a red dot over the gum that is not bothering seems to be due to a broken blood vessel leading to formation of a Petechiae.. It can occur due to any traumatic injury caused by any hard food or any other form of trauma.. Nothing to worry as it will resolve gradually on its own and does not need any treatment.. In case if it worsen or does not improve consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated.. For a more personalized information and evaluation of images click on the below link and ask a question along with uploading of images.. http://doctor.healthcaremagic.com/Funnel?page=askDoctorDirectly&docId=70036 Hope this information helps.. Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
