What Causes Small White Hairs All Over The Tongue?

I ve always had small white hairs all over my tongue, but mostly a bit back. my mom thought it was a bacterial infection when I was young, but the doctor said it was something called a designers tongue. After doing some research I can t find anything on that, I m hoping to figure out if this is just something that will be with me, or if its a problem. I ve had it all my life

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns. As per your complain small white hairs all over the tongue along with more towards the back seems to be most probably due to overgrowth of tongue papillae and as they keep growing it gives a hairy appearance over the tongue.

It can occur commonly due to poor hygiene and continuous intake of soft diet. I would suggest you to start using a tongue cleaner to clean your tongue. You can also eat hard foods that will help in regular turnover of the papilla on the tongue. In case if there is no improvement consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated.
