Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Sneezing And Watering In Eyes Post Removal Of Nasal Oxygen?
I had a colonoscopy this morning and after the nasal oxygen was removed my nose was itchy, I started sneezing and my eye has been watering and my nose has been running. I took Advil Cold and Sinus earlier and it helped a little. I just took a Benadryl about 15 minutes ago. I have read that other patients have had the same reaction in their left nostril after oxygen use but mine is on the right side and I was on my left during the procedure.
The effects you are having may be related to allergic reaction to any substances or to adverse effects of oxygenation. You may use antihistamines such Benadryl or Cetirizine. Rinse nose with saline water. There is no difference between happening in left or right nostril or in both. It will go as time passes.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
