What Causes Snoring While Sleeping After Taking Medication For Walking Pneumonia?

My three year old was diagnosed with walking pneumonia on Tuesday night. He was prescribed an antibiotic for the infection and was instructed to alternate between Tylenol and Motrin to reduce his fever. I m noticing that he s snoring while he s asleep and I m concerned being that he never snores and he recently had his andnoids removed due to having a second pair of ears tubes. Does the snoring indicates something is seriously wrong?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Enlarged adenoids often cause snoring in young children. But since your son has had his adenoids removed already, having his tonsils evaluated is another option. It is also possible that he has a blocked nose and is breathing through his mouth. I would keep an eye on it. I am sure you are doing a great job keeping a careful watch on him. If it persists, you can have his pediatrician perform a complete ENT exam.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
