What Causes Social Anxiety?

Hello, I suffer from social phobia and panic attacks, I have been taking medication but it doesn t seem to help. Only one helps me calm down but only that one day. The worse thing is that when I talk to people my mouth starts shaking, what causes that? Is there a way that I can stop it? This keeps me from going on with my job and with talking to certain people.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello thank you for writing us here.
Possible reasons behind it could be because you've been an introvert or maybe some incidence you had in past regarding talking to people or being in a crowd.
I would suggest you to talk with all your confidence in front of a mirror and keep practicing it.
Don't think that people would judge you alright? They won't. You don't have to fear about anything. There are thousands of people around you and you have to confident enough to face them. So practice your speaking skills in front of a mirror and apply it to your day to day life. You'll notice changes within a month I'm sure.
Medicines would treat the anxiety for a day or so but only possible cure is in your own hands.
God bless you

Best regards,
Dr Gunjan
