Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
for the past few months I have been having been having soft poop come out and not know it. I will sometimes feel a wetness after the fact(having soft poop on me). but other times I will not even know it until I go to the bathroom. It is like what you would have on a baby after the diaper is taken off and there is poop all over the butt. I thought I had narrowed it down to me eating chocolate. That seemed to work b/c i noticed that I would have anal leakage(soft poop) all over my butt after I consumed chocolate. However, I am still having the issue every now and then. I can t figure out a pattern of why thjis happens
It is normal to get changes in bowel movement as per foods/drinks consumed. It is also true that eating chocolate will make your stool sticky due to fat content. It could be a problem with malabsorption.
However, if I was your caring doctor, I would advise to
- change your eating habits (avoid fatty/oily/high calorie foods)
- increase water intake
- take probiotics to stabilize intestinal flora
If this won't help then you should consult further with gastroenterologist and run a few diagnostic tests
- fecal analysis
- stool culture
- colonoscopy to check your colon and anal area
Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
