What Causes Soft Bulk Stool With Bleeding And Pelvic Cramping?
I have had 3 episodes of diarrhea today, all of which had an orange color liquid. There was a small amount of soft bulk stool that had ribbons of bright red blood mixed in. The stool seemed greasy once. I have low back cramping and had pelvic cramping with each. PMH includes gastric bypass 2011 with recurring gastrojejunal ulcer and IBS. Meds are Prozac, flexeril and klonopin. VS- 91/53, p ranging from 98-108 resting, no resp issues. Do I need to go to the hospital?
Bright red blood per rectum (Hematochezia) is a serious medical condition that can lead to life-threatening situations. Differentiating it from harmless conditions needs a complete medical examination. You do need to contact your medical provider and they will evaluate the situation with a physical examination with vitals, appearance of the blood on stool (the shape of blood) and some laboratory testing like hemoglobin levels. I advice you to go to hospital.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Alptekin Aktürk, General & Family Physician
