What Causes Sore And Scratchy Throat?

One month ago after traveling with plane, I started having sore, scratchy throat and hoarseness of voice. No fever. After a couple of days, I took z-pack. Symptoms improved but did not disappear. 3-4 days after completing treatment, soreness returned. At ER, augmenting was prescribed. MD said there was a little redness, rapid strep test was be negative. Symptoms improved in th e next two weeks, soreness disappeared, hoarseness improved but not completely. Today, soreness returned. What is it?

Hello welcome to HCM. The symptoms have decreased with the treatement Which means it was effective but amount of dose was less. I assume that you have completed the course. If not please continue. If there is a gap between the stoppage of the drugs and starting then go back to same doctor and get high level antibiotiics so that the bacteria will be reactive. If you have cmpleted the course, even after that symptoms has come back, then also take high level antibiotics as the infection is not completely relieved. Also do salt water gargling and steam inhalation 3-4 times per day for fast healing. Take care.
