Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Sore Bronchial Tubes With Elevating Pain While Deep Breathing?
I m having bronchial issues due to an allergy to dust. We are replacing carpet with hardwood floors and I was exposed to dust and pollutants during the carpet removal process. I don t have a constant cough just extremely sore bronchial tubes. It hurts to breath, swallow or tilt my head back. When I do cough, it produces sharp chest pain and thick yellow mucus. I don t have a runny nose or any flu type symptoms. Should I seek medical attention or just wait it out?
Bronchitis (inflammation of the smaller airways of the bronchial tree with or without infection) can cause pain while coughing due to bronchospasm.
This can worsen if you have an associated infection (fever, purulent or yellow sputum that lasts for more than 2 weeks).
I recommend you see your physician especially so due to the pain associated with cough. In the meantime, use a face mask or a thin handkerchief to cover your nose and mouth while you are exposed to dust or other known allergens.
Stay hydrated to help loosen the mucus which will make it easier to expectorant.
If you have any breathing difficulty or chest pain when you breathe or at rest, high fever visit the ER right away. Hope I've been helpful. Please get back to us if you have further questions. Wish you good health
