What Causes Sore In The Upper Part Of Leg While Standing?

Hi, For the last few months, when I stand up from any position the upper part of my leg in the back is extremely sore. It s almost like electrical waves going through them. It increases when I lift and carry items. There are time I have to stop what I m doing and sit again. I try to stretch, but it doesn t really help. I teach Zumba Classes approx. 4 times a week.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Abnormal sensations such as electrical waves may be related to nerve injury to the area.
Abnormal structure or function of the nerves can cause abnormal sensations such as stinging, tingling, burning, numbness etc

This is called peripheral neuropathy and can be due to different causes such as: (1)vitamin b12 or folate deficiency
(2)trauma, arthritis
(3)diabetes
(4)exposure to toxins
(5)liver or kidney disease
(6)stroke, ms
(7)side effect of medication
(8)idiopathic- cause not known

If it continues or worsens , then you may need to see your doctor for assessment.

I hope this helps
