What Causes Sore Nipples And Swollen Breasts?

I took the depo shot on May 13th of 2016 and i never took another one! I had a regular period in August when I was due for my next shot! Then I went about 60 days without another period then finally had one and it last for 20 days! Got off of it and started again 7 days later with an regular period! Then three days after coming off my period I had unprotected sex! Now I am experiencing sore nipples and swollen breast, nauseous but can t throw, hard time passing a bowel movement and lower abdominal pain! Could I be pregnant? My next period is in 6 days!

Hi,

I do understand your concern regarding your issue.

* It seems to me that you are having irregular periods. You should always have regular medical treatments like ocps, depo shots as per doctors advice. any abrupt withdrawal will lead to hormonal imbalances.

* At present though your symptoms are not sure shot for diagnosing pregnancy, it is certain that what you are experiencing are hormonal changes effecting your body. Moreover you have not had your regular periods. In order to make sure you have pregnancy you have to get a UPT test done.

1) If you have menses in your regular dates then you can be sure you do not have pregnancy. Even if you miss your dates, take a UPT and then only you can be sure of pregnancy.

2) If UPT is negative wait for 2 to 3 days if you still don't have menses, visit a gynecologist for thorough examination. The reasons for your symptoms could be certainly evaluated then.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

With best regards,
Dr. Suhas Chauhan
