What Causes Sore Spot And Pain In Lower Back After A Injury?

My wife has had a severe onset of very low back pain. It came about by twisting in the shower. We have administered ice for 3 days. Constant pain is under control now but in a sitting position something is not right and has to continually adjust. She cannot bend over. When she lays down there is no sense of anything wrong. The sore spot runs from about 1 to 2 inches above the buttocks and 1 to 2 inches below the buttocks indention. It hurts to press on this area.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have sore spot and pain in lower back after a injury. Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to certain reasons like compressed fracture , muscle spasm , compressed nerve or disc injury. I would suggest you to apply warm compresses to back several times a day , do not try to bend if your back is stiff and painful , take proper rest and take ibuprofen or acetaminopehn for pain . Consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order CTscan or MRI along with physical examination to confirm the diagnosis. Doctor may prescribe muscle relaxant like noval MR along with anti inflammatory and recommend physical therapy . Doctor may also recommend surgery in case of severe damage .
