Hello, last wednesday i had an endoscopy and directly afterwards i had a sore throat which is only natural. however the next day i got a cold and had the sore throat through out the entire cold which is not like me. i had no signs of catching a cold before the procedure, in fact i was 100% fine. the cold is subsiding but now my throat feels like it has a large hard lump at the back only on the right hand side. it is hard to swallow and too painful to talk. i looked it up at it looks like tonsillitis but my GP is closed on the weekends. i am in a lot of pain, what do i do?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Trauma and irritation of throat can cause sore throat. Worsening of soreness of throat can follow the procedure. Your history suggests that you have caught infection of the throat. A clinical assessment is required to see whether any lump is present on back of throat or not. In the meanwhile, you can go for saline gargles and pain killers for symptomatic relief.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
