What Causes Sore Throat After Taking An Extra Dose Of Paracetamol?

Yesterday I took a overdose of paracetamol x10. I was taken to hospital to have blood tests, where they came back clear. However, the next day I felt really ill. I had a sniffly nose, sore throat and my ears hurt. I could also taste blood in my mouth. Later on in the evening, which is now, I started getting stabbing pains in my stomach and my back. Is this a delayed reaction of the overdose or nothing to do with it? What should I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The pain in the stomach can be related to the overdose of Paracetamol. I recommend to drink liquids to detox the system.

The flu like symptoms, does not seem to be related to the over dose of Paracetamol. You can use saline nasal spray to relieve the sniffy nose.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
