What Causes Sore Throat Along With Itchy Rashes On The Abdomen?
I am 65 years old in good health. I developed a sore throat 3 days ago with severe pain...a very slight cough ....no fever.. on other respiratory symptoms. Today I woke up with a generalized red itchy rash on my abdomen, back and palms. The itching went away after several hours without treatment. But now my palms are itchy with hive like bumps on my wrists. My abdomen has a faint rash that is no longer itchy. Throat remains very painful with laryngitis...no other Resp tract symptoms. Wha ts going on?.
By your history and description, the possibility of viral infection is more likely. Viral infection is likely to cause a sore throat and rashes on the skin. Usually, this infection is self-limiting in 1-2 weeks. For symptomatic relief, you should follow these steps:
1. Drink plenty of fluids orally and keep yourself hydrated.
2. Avoid hard to chew food and junk food.
3. Avoid soda and ice cream.
4. Do warm water gargles and steam inhalation 4-5 times a day.
4. Take Levocetirizine and Paracetamol combination.
Don't worry, you will be alright with all these in 1-2 weeks.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Kaushal Bhavsar,
