Hello Yesterday evening I choked on a piece of cheese at a friends house. It fully blocked my airway in front of 2 friends, that I thank goodness they were there, because they kept me calm and was ready to act quickly. I am asthmatic so concern was rising. I took small shallow wheezing breaths calmly as slight little air was seeping through and eventually cleared the airway within 2-3 mins. My voice became hoarse for about an hour or so. Today, I woke up with a sore throat, severe headache around ears and piercing in my temple area. I also have a very sore and stiff neck. The other symptom is uncontrollable emotions. Have had multiple crying breakdowns from the fear of what happened. (I unfortunately lost a friend this year from choking). When should I go see my doctor? Should these headaches be a cause for concern? I feel since I have turned 40+ I have been choking more and more on either my saliva or food. Is this common? I appreciate any advise you could give me. Thanks, S
