What Causes Sore Throat And A Swollen Tonsil After Taking Antibiotics For Tonsillitis?

Hi I have had tonsillitis been on antibiotics for 10 days today is my last day on them, but my throat is still really sore, my one tonsil is still swollen with a spot on it (tho it doesn t look like tonsillitis) and I have a yellow line running down the back of my throat

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of sore throat and swollen tonsil with a yellow line post tonsillitis which seems to be a bacterial infection due to which tonsils in neck get swollen and cause tonsillitis.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles and drink plenty of fluids to rehydrate. You should avoid fried, oily food and cold carbonated beverages. You should take vitamin C supplement for quick recovery. You should consult ENT specialist for proper examination and to rule out other conditions. Doctor may order blood test and throat swab test to confirm diagnosis. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics amoxicillin for around 10 days.
