What Causes Sore Throat And A Swollen White Spot Near The Uvula?
Hello, My nephew, age 28, came home from the hospital today complaining of a sore throat. We thought it might have been irritated from intubation during his surgery yesterday. Looking at it now, there’s a small white blob on the side of his uvula. He’a been on Tylenol, no apparent fever. Amy suggestions? Thank you.
Well, that sounds like a difficult intubation which resulted in injury on the uvula. It is very common actually and it resolves by itself in a week or so. There is nothing to worry about.
- For faster recovery, he should take vitamin B complex twice a day for 5 days and local anesthetic gargles.
- Also, it would be good to stick with liquid diet or semisolid diet for few days.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
