What Causes Sore Throat And Diarrhoea In A 19 Month Old Baby?
My baby is 19 weeks old. He all the time puts his hands into his mouth. 2 weeks ago he developed soar throat . I went to GP and she have antibiotics. Now again he has the problem with direah . It might be teething as well . He has dropped milk consumption . The health visitor and doctor are not in the favour of weaning. Help me please . He is not gaining wait instead loosing it
The cause to not gaining weight in your 19 weeks old baby are: - 1. Diarrhea - 2. Frequent infections like sore throat - 3. Not feeding well.
I think you should continue with breast feeding, and run a few tests including complete blood count, urine analysis and stool examination and stool culture in order to identify the right diagnosis.
Meanwhile, keep good hygienic measures especially when changing diaper or when preparing food. Give probiotics to stabilize intestinal flora, and oral rehydration salts to keep well hydrated. Discuss this further with his caring pediatrician.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
