What Causes Sore Throat And Difficulty In Swallowing And Tongue Movement?

Hi. I have been experiencing a sore throat which gets significantly worse when swallowing and moving my tongue. Although my tonsils do appear to have increased in size, I cannot see any yellow or white spots on them. I have also had a headache but no further symptoms. Please can you advise?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, i do care for your concern.
your symptoms suggest more of upper respiratory tract infection.
You have not mentioned your age, since tonsillitis can also produce same kind of symptoms.
I would advise
1) To start on a broad spectrum antibiotic i.e azithro along with antacid for the full course. paracetamol would relieve your headache.
2) have lukewarm water for drinking, avoid eating cold foods, which would add to the help.
3) If the symptoms continues to persist even after 3 days, its advisable to consult ENT specialist and get your tonsil checked.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
