What Causes Sore Throat And Difficulty In Swallowing?
I have pollen allergies. but my throat was sore on one side Saturday and by the time I went to bed both sides were very sore and hard to swallow. i woke up every hour cause i could not breathe. i noticed my tounge slightly swollen this morning and my throat is still sore and feels like something is blocking me from swallowing. i have taken my sinus medication hoping it is allergies but have never experienced this feeling before? can it be my tonsils or thyroid?

Such symptoms are usually caused by enlarged tonsils due to bacterial infection. If so, you should be able to see some white covering of your throat. Fever can be present as well.
I suggest you to consult your doctor. Antibiotic treatment is necessary.
