General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

A second opinion may be best if the symptoms are not resolving.

The most common reason for problems with urination in older men is enlargement of the prostate either due to a benign (non cancerous cause) or due to cancer.

This would need to be assessed and treatment given according to what is found.

Persistent cough is commonly due to post nasal drip, reflux or asthma. If he had a recent cough/cold then post viral cough is also possible

I hope this helps
