Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Sore Throat And Knee Pain Along With Body Ache?
My 16.5 year old son has what I think is bursitis in his right knee (he wrestles and it s been hurting for two weeks). Yesterday he started complaining of a sore throat. Today he said his knee hurt the worst and has become achy, tired, has chills and I think a fever (my thermometer is working well). He is flushed and hot to the touch. However, he doesn t complain of acute pain when I touch his knee. Could he have septic bursitis or is it concidental and perhaps just has a virus in addition to non-septic bursitis? Should he been see urgently?
First of all, it's sad to know what your son had been going through lately.
Based on the history you have shared, he needs to be evaluated by an orthopedic surgeon for septic arthritis. X-ray of affected joint and complete blood counts, as well as fluid aspiration and microscopy, may be needed too.
Meanwhile, OTC analgesics like Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can be used for symptomatic relief.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin,
