What Causes Sore Throat And Pain In Left Ear?

I have had a sore throat now for a good week-week and a half 24/7. It is pretty red but no white patches. The pain started to spread to my left ear a couple days in. I have allergies, but they have never caused something like this. I went to urgent care for the same thing last month and the woman just quickly glanced and said she didn t see anything, but gave me antibiotics because she saw some redness in my right ear and I am prone to ear infections, even though it was the left one that hurt. The antibiotics helped with the ear pain, but I still had the sore throat at night. Now I have it all day long, but it gets really bad at night. Not sure what it could be.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your have symptoms of sore throat and pain in left ear which seems to be due to eustachian tube dysfunction due to creation of negative pressure inside ears. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to put antibacterial ear drop. You should take throat lozenges and do warm saline gargles. You should take antibiotic Levofloxacin in combination with antiallergic medication Sinarest. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. You should get throat swab test, paranasal sinus x-ray done and start treatment after proper diagnosis. Avoid pricking ear with any sharp object. Avoid oily and sharp food. Drink plenty of fluids. You should avoid intake of outside food.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
