What Causes Sore Throat And Pus-filled Tonsils?

Hi, I went to the doctor with a sore throat and puss-filled tonsils. She did a throat culture on me and said it was viral. I decided to gargle with peroxide to get rid of the puss. That helped, but my throat is still raw, especially the thing that hangs down in the back and seems to have white patches on it. It s been a week now, everyday sore.. Did I just burn my throat or could it be something else?

Hi
Welcome to HCM!

I have gone through the problem discussed in your case.
I am of the opinion that you have follicular tonsillitis this is due to secondary infection caused by the bacteria.
You need to take a course of antibiotics preferably penicillins like Amoxycillin with clavulonic acid along with NSAID pain killers for that you will have to visit your doctor.
Continue doing frequent luke warm saline water gargle with out hydrogen peroxide.

Best regards
