Hi I got my tragus pierced yesterday. I know this is just me worrying most likely but I woke up with a sore throat and it has only gotten worse threw the day and spread the the other lymph and the back of the ear on the pierced ear. I will wait till the next work day to check it out if it get worse or doesn t clear up but I wonder if it is common for it to spread that quickly. I also have flu symptoms such as chills I don t know if my body is just reacting to the open wound but I don t know. Help

General & Family Physician 's  Response
hello,
i can understand your concern.
based on the history, infection at the piercing site has lead to the symptoms of sour throat, enlarged lymph nodes fever as well as chills.
do not worry this is quite common after a ear piercing.
apply cold compresses over the inflamed area.
do intermittent salt water gargles.
i would advise anti inflammatory drugs like aceclofenac to be taken twice a day for reducing the pain and inflammation.
i would also suggest a short course of antibiotic like amoxicillin+clavulanate for five days.
this would cure the infection and speed up the recovery.
hope you are satisfied with the response.
feel free to ask further questions.
thanks for choosing HCM.
