What Causes Sore Throat, Cough And Nasal Congestion?
Six weeks ago I had a bad cold symptoms were a sore throat, cough, nasal congestion, headache and fever and complete loss of voice. It is now six weeks later I feel fine however my voice remains extremely raspy and gravelly and nothing I do seems to help. My throat is not red - it must have something to do with my vocal chords. Could it be a bacterial infection for which I require antibiotics?
Thanks for your query .Sometimes infection left behined even after taking antibiotics . Specially when antibiotic course is short then require or one didn't complete it properly . In your case infection travel down the resiratory track and larynx got infected . The condition is called laryngitis .
I would suggest you to again consult your ENT specialist(ear, nose, throat) for proper examination . Doctor may perform laryngoscopy or biopsy to confirm diagnosis . He/she may prescribe further antibiotic course and stronger antibiotics.
For now try to speak less , give your larynx proper rest , take ibuprofen (if not allergic) or paracetamol for pain and swelling and give warm compresses to your neck .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
