What Causes Sore Throat Inspite Of Taking Amoxicillin And Zithromax?
I got my wisdom teeth removed a week ago- ever since then I ve had a really bad sore throat and unable to eat any food other than ice water and bread. It burns extremely bad when eating. I was on amoxicillin and now they have me on Zithromax. Neither has helped. I wanted a third opinion because my oral surgeon and physician say I m fine.
Yeah, well, if you had general anaesthesia with a tube DOWN your throat, then the answer is an easy one. I doubt you did, so it is harder to say. First would be direct trauma. Second would be chemical inflammation if there was a chemical in the dental process (God forbid they used iodine wash, but a chlorhexidine rinse might have been used, might have had a local reaction like an allergy). Third, is an infection that is untreated. WHile it might be a bacterial infection that is resistant (Staph, or anaerobes; clindamycin is quite good for either), YEAST INFECTION FROM THE AMOXICILLAN could also do this. HIV associated viral infection could, but that's really stretching possibilities.
