What Causes Sore Throat, Losing Voice, Nose Block And Chest Congestion?

I have been suffering from allergies since Wednesday... I was losing my voice and was uncomfortable. But now It has gotten very bad in that I am coughing up a great amount of congestion and blowing my nose excessively. Since Thursday I am taking Claritin-D... I usually do not have to take anything. I have the windows shut and the A/C on, but this is the worst I have felt in years. Any suggestions? Pollen count in NY should improve Sunday and get very good Monday.

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern.

Thanks for your query . People usually facing problems due to pollen allergy . There are certain methods and medications by which we can relieve the symptoms .

METHODS:-
- Keep yourself inside house .
- keep all doors and windows closed(as you mention).
- Keep AC on .
- Wear dust mask .

Medication :-

- Take over the counter nasal steroids (fluticasone)to relieve the symptoms like running nose ans sneezing .
- Take antihistamine drug (benadryl or zyrtec) to stop allergic reaction .
- And decongestants like oxymetazoline (as per expert advice or instructions)

You can also take warm glass of water mix with one spoon oh honey and few drops of ginger extract.
