What Causes Sore Throat, Racing Heart, Wheezing And Cold Sweats?

I am 28 female, mother of two. I am 5 6 and 144lbs. History childhood asthma. Two weeks ago i suddenly found myself gasping for air, i felt that i was not getting enough intake all day. The next morning i awoke sore throat racing/pounding heart and wheezing accompanied by severe cold sweats a cough with green/Brown phlegm. Went the hospital and had elevated d dimmer test they checked for blood clot there was none. They put me on prednisone 4days and zithromyacin 7days and said i had bronchitis. Finished my meds and went back symptoms got worst now i am on albuterol via nebulizer prednisone 4days bactrim 10 days and I m four days into these antibiotics still no change in symptoms. My husband as of tonight is feeling the same way clammy, cold sweats and disconnected. So are our 8year old and 11month old. We have not been out of the country recently. Does this sound normal for being bronchitis? Thank so much and my apologies on any misspelling as well as this being so long!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

D dimer test elevated makes me more concerned about pulmonary embolism because you have shortness of breast. For asthma exacerbation should be better after you take antibiotic and steroid with an Albuterol inhaler but if it is not improved you may need to see a doctor again to do chest X-ray.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
