What Causes Sore Throat While Suffering From GERD?
I have GERD, now I have developed a sore throat everyday for 2 1/2 weeks with a lumpy feeling in my throat.. I am taking omeprazole 20mg. in the am and now my Dr.told me to take 150 to 300 mg of zantac in the evening before I go to bed.. She told me to give it about 1 month and I should get better. I had heartburn in the middle of my chest prior to the sore throat and then the sore throat developed. Never had this sore throat whichi is connected to GERD.. She told me to watch what I eat & drink. What is your opinion??
There is a chance that your sore throat is a result of the GERD. I would advise you to take syrup Sucrafil O and see if you are relieved.
Avoid eating oily and spicy food and stay away from alcoholic beverages. Don't eat anything two hours before you go to sleep. Raise the head end of your bed while sleeping.
If you are not relieved in a few days then you may have to consult an ENT specialist for probable upper respiratory tract infection.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Nazma.amman,
