Yesterday I woke up with what I thought was a simple sore throat. Later in the day I experience pain whenever I breathe, swallow and yawn. The pain is inside my throat around the mid and lower areas. The sides and back of my neck experience no pain, just the front. Whats wrong and what should I do?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It seems to be an acute pharyngitis case. A strong anti-inflammatory drug like a short-term steroid for five days can be prescribed for rapid improvement. Before that CBC investigation needed your auscultation also should be done. If needed according to CBC like high neutrophils than antibiotic course prescribed. Salt water gargle has done with warm water three times a day. Drink more water. Avoid excess spicy foods.
Consult otorhinolaryngologist for examination and accordingly get prescription
